1. Operation Instructions

Basic Operation of Operation Panel:

  1. Startup Operation Sequence (guarantee the reset button is not at RESET status)
  2. Open the external main power switch
  3. Switch the main power switch of the electrical cabinet to the status of “OPEN” and open the main power supply of the machine.
  4. Press the switch of “Power On” on the operation panel to open the power supply of NC.
  5. Release the “Emergency Stop” button.
  6. Press reset key “Reset //” to activate the machine tool and add “Feeding Enabling”.
  7. Shutdown Operation Sequence
  8. Press down “Emergency Stop” button and the machine would enter into emergency stop status.
  9. Press down the switch “POWER OFF” on the operation panel to switch off the power supply of NC.
  10. Switch the main power switch of electrical cabinet to the status of “OFF” to shut down the main power supply of the machine.
  11. Shut down external main power switch.
  12. Emergency Stop Button: In case of any emergency situation during the running of the machine, press down this button immediately and the machine would stop all controls. In releasing the emergency stop situation, rotate this button in clockwise direction and the machine would return to standby status. After releasing the emergency stop button, press “Reset //” to activate the machine tool. Check and confirm the absence of interference, continued operation should be done.
  13. Rapid moving: the function of Rapid Moving could be used when the operators would like axles of the machine to make large distance rapid movement.

The operation procedure is shown as below:

  1. Select the JOG mode.
  2. Place the rapid moving rate percentage to the desired position.
  3. Press down the selection switch for axial movement to ensure various axles would move toward the desired direction.

Power Switch

  1. Power switch is used to connect NC power supply
  2. Use to shut down NC power supply.
  3. Emergency stop button. This button is in red color. Press down this button upon the coming or occurring of any accidents to shut down control of the enabled server. Rotate this button to the right to recover the power supply.

2.3 Movement and Selection of Spindle

A. Spindle override 100%

“Spindle INC”: 5% increase for each click

“Spindle DEC”: 5% decrease for each click

B.Rapid movement rate adjustment

Use this rotary knob to adjust the movement rate of G0 and G1 and each space would indicate the increase of 5%.

2.4 Jog Control for Main Spindle

     A.Forward rotation of main spindle (jog mode)

       After pressing down this key, the main spindle would implement forward rotation and the indicator would be ON.

   

     B.Reversed rotation of the main spindle (jog mode)

       After pressing down this key, the main spindle would implement reversed rotation and the indicator would be ON.

     

     C.Main Spindle Stop (Jog Mode)

       The main spindle would stop immediately after pressing down this key.

3. Introduction to Jog Interface

Under the interface of , select jog operation and users could switch knife, rotate main spindle, select work coordinate, implement supporting M code, switch machining surface, perform work division, match the cutter length, position the spindle and implement simple milling on the surface of the work piece. (Description for the parts available for input would pop up when the cursor has stayed at the position for 2s)

3.1 TSM Function

Input the cutter No. in the edit box behind T directly. Press down the program startup key to enter into the cutter switching action directly.

Input rotation speed directly at the back of the main spindle and select running mode in the M Function of the main spindle. Press down the program startup key to run the main spindle. The functions of the M Function are shown in below picture, which includes forward rotation, reversed rotation, stop and position (press “select” key to select or press insert ley to pop up the selection options, and press input key to confirm).

For other M Function (other than the M Function of the main spindle), user only needs to input code 8 or 9, select the option and then press program startup key to implement corresponding M Function.

In the zero offset setting, select “Select” key or press the insert key to pop up the selection option and the press the insert key to confirm. After the selection, press the program startup key to activate the selected coordinate system. After such operation, the selected coordinate system would be displayed at the lower position of the coordinate system (basic coordinate system would not be displayed).

For the selection of machining plane, users should select “Select” key or press the insert key to pop up the selection options and the press the insert key to confirm. After above operation, press program startup key to activate the selected machining plane.

3.2 Tool Setting and Central Division Function

Manual Measurement for Work Pieces

Method 1: Directly set the zero offset

Below conditions should be met. Otherwise the setting of zero offset would be in grey color and could not be adjusted

  • The setting grade of the system should be above level 4 (which means key switch 3 or setting passwords).
  • Activate the coordinate system of one work piece (like use TSM function to activate G54).
  • Display the coordinate system on the graphic of the machine tool (cancel on the HMS or use the operational panel to turn on the ).
  • Cutting tools are installed on the main spindle.
  • In order to guarantee the safety of cutting tools, please start up the main spindle (S500-S2000)

For example: X-spindle, G54

Procedure (After moving the spindle, set zero offset, and the selection would be cancelled automatically)

  1. Use hands or hand wheel to move the X-spindle to the left side surface of the work piece, click the setting of zero offset and press down X=0 to clear the coordinate of X.
  2. Use hands or hand wheel to move X-spindle to the other side of the work piece, click the setting of zero offset, input “/” “2” (automatically calculate the position of the central point) , and double click the Input key to receive and then complete the central division of X-spindle (the system would save the calculation result into G54 automatically).

The central division method of Y-spindle is same with that of the X-spindle. User just needs to repeat the above operations to complete the central division of Y-spindle. In setting the work piece offset with Z-spindle, users could directly set Z=0 or Z=corresponding height under this graphic.

Method 2: The graphic reminds the setting of zero offset

Below conditions should be met. Otherwise the setting of zero offset would be in grey color and could not be adjusted

  • Activate the coordinate system of one work piece (like use TSM function to activate G54).
  • Cutting tools are installed on the main spindle.
  • In order to guarantee the safety of cutting tools, please start up the main spindle (S500-S2000)

For example: central division of X and Y spindle, G54

Procedure: (P1/P2 are two points of X-spindle and P3/P4 are two points of Y-spindle. The two points should not be same with each other and spindle should have certain movements)

  1. Use hands or hand wheel to move the X-spindle to the one side of the work piece, click to save P1. Move X-spindle to the other side of the work piece and click to save P2.
  2. Use hands or hand wheel to move the Y-spindle to the one side of the work piece, click to save P3. Move Y-spindle to the other side of the work piece and click to save P4.
  3. Click the setting of zero offset (guarantee the zero offset selected is correct) (the system would automatically save the calculation results in G54) to complete the central division of the four points.

The setting for the zero offset of work piece on Z-spindle needs to be performed after the completion of the cutting tool length measurement (for convenience in the management of the length differences in cutter warehouse).

Remark: Users could check whether the data in automatic central division have input of zero offset by pressing , selecting and selecting .

3.3 Tool Length Measurement

3.3.1 Calibration of Fixing Point

Description: Tool Length =the distance between end face of the main spindle and tool nose

During system measurement, calculate the difference from the actual coordinate value to the reference position (fixing points or work piece surface)

Set fixing point:

Search the unchanged position on the machine tool, like surface of jaw vice or use fixing block to fix onto the working bench. Remove the tool of the main spindle (otherwise, the measurement would be inaccurate) to calibrate the fixing points with the contacting position between the end surface of the main spindle and the fixing point.

Select “Measure Tool” → “Calibrate Fixing Point” and press down “Calibrate” when the end surface of the main spindle has reached the position of the fixing point.

3.3.2 Manual Setting for the Tool Length

User could implement tool switching function under the interface, like the tool switching in “TSM” function. After input or select tool, user could press circulation startup to implement tool switching.

Reference Points:

Work Piece: refers to the selection of the zero point of coordinate system, and it would be the zero point of machine tool if there is no coordinate system.

Fixing Point: refers to the coordinate point of Z-spindle machine tool in calibrating the fixing point.

DZ or Z0:

It is the distance from the tool nose to the reference surface (fixing point or surface of work piece)

After setting, users just need to press “Set the Length” and the system would write in the tool length automatically. Users could check the length value at the tool information position of “TFS” window.

3.3.3 Manual Measurement for Tool Diameter

Description:

The system provides measurement feature of tool diameter, which would provide convenience for the user to handle the dimension of the worn tool. However, measurement accuracy would be influenced by the measurement instrument or the measurement block used. Moreover, the coordinate values of the edge of measurement instrument or measurement block should be known before the measurement.

Method:

Users could select from measurement from the X direction or from the Y direction.

Select “Measure Tool” → “Manual Diameter”. When the tool has touched the measurement instrument or measurement block, input its edge position and then press the key for setting of diameter to activate the diameter values of the tool.

Users could check the diameter value at the tool information position in the “TFS” window.

3.3.4 Manual Positioning of Spindle

快速移动 Rapid moving各轴位置设定 Setting for the positions of various spindles绝对坐标或增量坐标,使用“select”键选择 Absolute coordinate or increment coordinate, select “select” key to select

 

Description:

The coordinate setting is restricted under current coordinate system (zero offset), which indicates that the final position of the movement is the position of the current coordinate system.

F: Set the movement speed or click “rapid movement”, and the system would move to the coordinate points in the setting at the speed of G0.

Abs Absolute Coordinate System:

Absolute coordinate or incremental coordinate. Users could use “Select” key to select the position setting of various spindles.

Inc Incremental Coordinate System:

After setting, press “Program Startup” and the machine tool would move to the setting position under the control of the feed rate.

 

 

3.3.5 End Surface Milling Function

Description:

This function could rapidly level off the surface of the work piece. Meanwhile, users could also add edge boss with this function.

After setting the relative dimension according to the requirements, users could press Receive key to automatically generate a program and then press the “Startup Program” to start machining the surface of the work piece.

Press “Cancel” key to cancel the end surface milling function.

3.3.6 Other Information

Rel Coordinate System:

Description: Provide users with the coordinate system other than WCS (work piece coordinate system) and MCS (machine tool coordinate system). It provides convenience for the checking of coordinate value.

Operation Method:

Under the manual mode and machining interface, press down to select the soft key “Actual Value REL” at the right side, and the horizontal soft key “Set Zero Offset” would be changed into “Set REL”. Moreover, the coordinate system would be switched to REL coordinate system.

Click “Set REL” and select the soft key at the right to clear the coordinate values of various spindles. Users could also input the coordinate values of various spindles manually and then click Insert Key to confirm.

Check the positions of various spindles (zoon in the actual value)

Notes: Users could use this function to check the coordinate values or angles of all spindles.

Operation Method:

Commissioning personnel would open the function of checking the coordinate values/positions of various spindles according to the demands. Under the jog mode and machining interface, users just need to press down (zoom in the actual values).

Soft key “Actual Value MSC” is similar with the on the operation panel, which could achieve the switching between the coordinate system of machine tool and the coordinate system of work piece.

Function Introduction:

  1. (Basic Program Section) could be used to check the loop code of program currently implemented.

 

  1. Users could use (Time Counter) to check the machining time and left time of the current program and set whether to open the counter for work piece.

  1. Users could use (Program Level) to check the master program, sub-program, circulation and corresponding invocation times in the current program implemented.

 

  1. After pressing (Cover) in the “MDA Mode” under automatic mode, users could edit corresponding orders to perform machining or open supporting functions when the program is under Pause or Reset status.

After the completion of the program edit, press down Circulating Startup key to implement the program.

  1. (Program Modification): Under the system status of Reset or Pause, users could press Program Modification to switch into the program writing interface to modify the program. Press down (Implement) to return to the machining graphic upon the completion of the modification. After pressing “Program Startup”, the program would continue machining.
  2. “Program Control” (press “Select” key to select)

① Program test: The machine tool would not have any action after running the program.

② Feeding under dry running: The machine tool would run the program with the maximum speed.

③ Rapid magnification ratio active: the moving speed of G0 is controlled by the magnification ratio.

④ Stop with conditions: M01 in the program is active and the machine tool enters into Pause status.

⑤ Hand Wheel Offset: use hand wheel to offset the current coordinate system.

6 Changeover of Program Section: It would not implement if “/” is in front of the current program section.

7 Step: select the precision of the single-step under three modes.

  1. Determine the searching mode

Search with calculation without return: Complete running from the component program to the target program (including the tool switching, startup of the main spindle and implementation of the supporting code). The program would implement from the target program section.

Search with calculation and return: Complete running from the component program to the target program (including the tool switching, startup of the main spindle and implementation of the supporting code). The program would implement from the previous line of the target program section.

Search without Calculation: rapidly position to the program section (without starting the main spindle, switching the tool, and activating supporting action) and directly implement the target program section.

Search with Program Test: Activate PRT function, the machine tool would not act and only display the program implemented.

4.3 Editing and Implementation of Program

4.3.1 Program Management and Program Editing

Program manager “PROGRAM MANAGER”: check the contents of machining programs.

Program Editing “PROGRAM”: Open the enabled program and enter into the editing page.

Diagnosis “ALARM”: Display the alarming information and alarming records.

 

4.3.2 Program Management

The three default folders of the system are:

Component Program: The master program used by the customers and the format (the file name) will be *.mpf (the format of files used in most systems is .nc, which should be rewritten).

Sub-program: The customized invocation of sub-program and the format is */spf.

Work Piece: The program of customized standard components could be used to save master program or sub-program. Besides, customers could create several folders according to their actual requirements. The format (extension name) of folder is .wpd.

4.3.3 Program Writing

Users could select new master program or sub-program to create new machining program. The default “Component Program” must store MPF folder.

“Sub-program” is spf document (In case of saving of sub-program by force, the system would remind the user to modify the format)

Place the cursor onto the folder in which the new program to be created or program, click the “Create” on the right key (for example, the name of newly created master program is 123), and press the Confirm button to enter into the preview window of the program and edit the page.

Name specification: name could be constituted by English, numbers or underline. However, no Chinese name is allowed. Otherwise, the system would not recognize them.

When the key switch is located at the level below Level 3, the program could not be edited, modified, copied & pasted or deleted. Users are not allowed to create new program either.

4.3.4 Implementation of Program

Under the covering mode of MDA or AUTO, users could directly edit the program and implement program by pressing “Program Startup”.

In the program management interface, select the required program, press Implement System to select machining program and skip into the machining interface. Press Program Startup to implement the machining of the program.

In such cases, users could also click “Implement” under the program writing interface to start the machining program.

Open program: place the cursor onto the program, use soft key (Open) or use soft key “Input” or use cursor to open the program (move toward right to open and move toward to close).

  1. Tool Storeroom Commissioning and Using Description

Generally, the place at 150mm below the maximum position of the Z-spindle is set as the original point of Z-spindle. The highest position of Z-spindle is the second positive limit position. Just like the setting below:

N36100 $MA_POS_LIMIT_MINUS[AX3]=-400; the first negative limit of Z-spindle

N36110 $MA_POS_LIMIT_PLUS[AX3]=0; the first positive limit of Z-spindle

N36120 $MA_POS_LIMIT_MINUS2[AX3]=-400; the second negative limit of Z-spindle

Users just need to set below three parameters in connection with the position of tool storeroom:

MD14514[0] Maximum height position of tool switching of Z-spindle

MD14514[1] Positioning angle for tool switching of main spindle (rotate the main spindle for at least one circle and check them under REF mode)

MD14514[2] Position of the slowdown point of Z-spindle

After input the above three parameters, the parameters could be effective after restart of the system (effective upon PO reset)

Three running modes for tool storeroom

The running of tool storeroom consists of below three modes: OEM Tool Storeroom Commissioning Mode, Rapid Tool Installation Mode and Automatic Tool Switching Mode. For safety consideration, in regardless of mode, the enable and disable function of the main spindle would be opened and the main spindle could not be rotated when the main spindle runs to the position above point -1.

OEM Tool Storeroom Commissioning Mode

The main function of OEM Tool Storeroom Commissioning Mode is to provide convenience for the manufacturer to adjust the tool storeroom. Under this mode, the main spindle and cutter could move upward and downward free at any position of Z-spindle. Therefore, only professional commissioning personnel could use this function. During the using of this function, it is necessary to pay attention to mechanical interference to avoid collision risk.

It is recommended to use hand wheel to commission under this mode. Moreover, the positions of Z-spindle should be automatically positioned free from -10 to -8. In case it is necessary to adjust the angle of the main spindle, the adjustment range should be restricted at the range between -8 and 0.

Rapid tool installation mode (User Tool Storeroom Commissioning Mode)

The rapid tool installation mode could be used for rapid installation and removal of tool. The mode is only applicable for professional machine tool operators.

Procedure for the using of repaid tool installation mode:

Select JOG mode on the control panel, and keep pressing key for 2s to enable the rapid tool installation mode (User Tool Storeroom Commissioning Mode). The main spindle would automatically move to the tool switching point automatically and the key indicator would be ON upon the completion of the positioning.

Users just need to click key to cancel the rapid tool installation mode (User Tool Storeroom Commissioning Mode) and the indicator would be OFF.

Under the selection of Hand Wheel Mode, the rapid tool installation could not be opened.

For convenience of OEM commissioning, however, it is allowed under the conditions of “OEM Tool Storeroom Commissioning Mode +Rapid Tool Installation Mode + Hand Wheel”.

Under rapid tool installation mode (User Storeroom Commissioning Mode):

When Z-spindle is under 0 point, select Z, press + (Jog) and the system would complete below actions automatically:

After the main spindle has been positioned to the setting angle 14514 [1], Z-spindle would move upward to 14514[0], which indicates that Z-spindle would stop at -1 of the second positive limit of Z-spindle and the tool would be placed back to the tool storeroom from the main spindle.

Users could then press or to rotate the cutter head in forward or reversed direction.

When the Z-spindle is located at the position of 14514[0], select Z and then press “-” to complete below actions automatically:

Z-spindle would move downward to point -2 and the tool would be loaded onto the main spindle.

Zero Returning of Tool Storeroom

In case of any mixing tool due to fault of the tool storeroom, users need to perform zero clearing for the tool storeroom to use the tool storeroom again.

Zero Returning Procedure:

  1. Activate the “OEM Tool Storeroom Commissioning Mode”, activate the hand wheel to move the Z-spindle to the highest position 14514[0] and set the values.
  2. Select “JOG” + “Zero Returning” mode.
  3. Use or to rotate the cutter head to the position of No. 1 tool.

Upon the completion of zero returning, the tools in the tool list would be correspond with the tools in the tool storeroom.

Tool Switching Mode

Under MDI or AUTO mode, implement tool switching order TXM6 to complete the automatic tool switching (X is the tool number). The tool could also be switched after input the corresponding tool number under TSM mode under JOG mode.

If the current tool number is same with the tool number selected, the program section searching with program simulation and program test and without calculation would not switch tools automatically.

 

 

  1. Using of Other Special Functions

6.1 Inching Function

Inching: Under the machining interface under manual mode, users could simulate the hand wheel pulse to control precision movement of the spindle if there is no hand wheel available for use.

VAR: It could be used to set the increment movement. Select in the machining graphic under manual mode, and click to set the increment value according to the requirements. The movement unit is 0.001mm.

1: Move the spindle for 0.001mm for each time

10: Move the spindle for 0.01mm for each time

100: Move the spindle for 0. 1mm for each time

1000: Move the spindle for 0.001mm for each time (disabled in default setting)

6.2 “Repos” Breakpoint Return Function

This function is mainly to provide convenience for the customers to pause the machining of work piece and check the status of the main spindle, tool and work pieces during the machining process. Upon the completion of the checking, the machining process could be continued.

Operation Method:

  1. In case it is necessary to stop the machine to perform checking in the machining process, users need to press “Program Stop” to pause the program machining (please do not press “RESET” key). In case it is necessary to stop the main spindle, users could press the on the operation panel to stop the main spindle.
  2. Switch to the manual mode, use hands or hand wheel to move Z-spindle, X-spindle and Y-spindle to the safe positions to provide convenience for the users to check.
  3. Upon the completion, light up and move the spindle to the breakpoint under manual mode (the spindle movement could only get close to the coordinate system of the program breakpoint and should not get far away from it).
  4. Switch back to the automatic mode and press to continue the previous machining process. In case the main spindle is not started, users could start the main spindle under “Cover” mode.

6.3 Spindle Zero Point Setting

The encoders of various spindles are absolute value encoders. Therefore, the zero point needs to be calibrated again upon the occurrence of any accidents like tool collision, excessive impacting of spindles and etc. The calibrating method is shown as below:

  1. Find 34210[0] in the spindle parameters, change the default value 2 into 1 and activate the data.
  2. Adjust the spindle to be adjusted to the zero point position, switch the system to zero returning mode, select the corresponding spindle (press to light up the key corresponding with the spindle), press down “+” and 34210[0] would be changed into 2 automatically and the coordinate corresponding with the spindle would also change into 0. The zero point setting of such spindle is thus completed.
